Short history

Mariken de Ruiter has been an independent entrepreneur since 1987. After her studies at the University of Applied Science; ” HTS voor de Confectie Industrie” (Apparel Industry). she worked for a company which supplied ladies fashion for medium and large retailers in the Netherlands. Responding quickly to the ever-changing demands of the market, creating designs that were to be delivered on a short term. Close cooperation with the retail entrepreneur was an absolute requirement. She founded her own fashion business started in 1986.

Expertise

Working consumer-oriented, that’s exactly where Mariken is the expert.
User centered design. UX, Design thinking, they are all terms that mean the same thing. In the beginning of my career I was a product manager, now that would be product owner.
What does the consumer/user want? Focusing on the user, thinking along with the entrepreneur, looking for a simple solution and flexibility, these are Designlab’s core values.

In 1997 the name designlab.nl was registered as a domain.
